The Amazing Cuisine of the Caribbean

Boring and bland are two words that won’t come to mind when you sit down to an authentic Caribbean dining experience. Caribbean dishes are some of the most flavorful due to the variety of herbs such as allspice and tamarind, and native ingredients such as mangoes, peppers, and limes.

Caribbean cooking includes many fish dishes, in which limes are used as a marinade. Curry is also used quite often, as well as chilies and a variety of sauces made from local ingredients like coconuts. In fact, coconut milk is used as the basis for many of the classic Caribbean sauces. A variety of fresh fruit and assorted vegetables is also frequently used.

Each of the Caribbean islands has its own unique way of cooking and offers its own specialties. For example, some of the more famous dishes include Jerk chicken and conch dishes that are commonly found in the Bahamas. Black beans and rice is considered to be a mainstay in Cuban cooking, and the use of curry is synonymous in areas such as Trinidad.

A combination of global cultures such as those of Europe, India, and China has come together to create what has come to be known as one of the most unique, diverse and flavorful regions of the world.

The Caribbean people are more laid back and they enjoy taking life at a slower pace. The Caribbean is a great place to sit back, relax, and to try some exotic Caribbean cuisine.
